I hear this often especially in sports.  He or she has so much passion.  I sometimes wonder if the person being described really understands what passion means.

Webster’s Dictionary provides intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction among many other related definitions.  Others add: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept and finally, a passionate person has very strong feelings about something or a strong belief in something.

I would guess really; we all have a passion towards one thing or another but suggest that these passions have grown with us over the years.  A love of hunting and fishing, our relationships, that ole car, our farms, pets and homes and family.  But is passion the same as love?  He or she just loves sport shooting, but do they possess passion?

I wonder about this as I have a love of many things, but do I have passion?  Maybe if we look at passion in another AI generated way.

Passion for sports can be a powerful motivator that can lead to success in many ways, including:

  • Sense of purpose

Being passionate about a sport can give you a sense of belonging, community, and purpose.

  • Physical and mental health

Being passionate about a sport can help you stay physically and mentally healthy.

  • Performance

      ·   Resilience

Passionate athletes are often resilient in the face of adversity.

      ·   Fulfillment

Passion can manifest in different ways, including:

  • Commitment to training

Passionate athletes are committed to training and are willing to put in the time and effort to improve.

       ·    Desire to excel

       ·    Intrinsic motivation

Athletes with harmonious passion are intrinsically motivated and focus on personal improvement.

Passion can also be infectious, and people can be inspired by the energy of those who are passionate about what they do.

Print these off and pass it around to your young shooters and see just how many they agree with.  Can these be the things you as a coach promote to build a sense of passion that ultimately becomes true passion.  Those with the greatest desire will indeed excel.
