Growing Missouri’s Youth through Sport Shooting
The Missouri Youth Sport Shooting Alliance (MYSSA) has the goal of developing outstanding leaders here in Missouri through participating in shooting sports. With the support of the MidwayUSA Foundation, through which MYSSA has an endowment, we assist Missouri youth through high school in finding and funding shooting teams. Dedication to an activity, especially one such as sport shooting that requires the utmost responsibility, aids students in developing leadership skills, making friends, building confidence and much more.
Whether you are interested in competing in trap, skeet, sporting clays, handgun, rifle, air rifle or archery target shooting, MYSSA offers helpful resources and access to exceptional training and events.
About UsSharpen Your Skills
From subsidizing events to organizing contests to training instructors, MYSSA receives support from the MidwayUSA Foundation to provide opportunities and resources to Missouri’s youth sport shooters. MYSSA is uniquely focused on Missouri students through high school, encouraging them to find an activity and a team to help them grow.
Building Confidence
Learning or improving a skill builds confidence. We’ve seen how training, practicing and committing to team shooting sports can help young people develop into confident leaders, and MYSSA wants to help more Missouri youth have this opportunity.
Learning Responsibility
Team shooting sports also teaches responsibility. Learning to safely and responsibly handle, fire and care for a firearm takes focus, attention and accountability. These are transferable skills team members learn throughout their time involved in team shooting sports.
Growing Your Team’s Future
The MidwayUSA Foundation offers ways for Missouri Youth Sports Shooting teams to increase their funds through a matching endowment. Raise money for your team, put some of it into your team’s endowment through the MidwayUSA Foundation and the foundation will match your contribution. This opportunity is available for all high school teams throughout the state.
Build a Team and Your Future
If you are looking for a sport shooting team to join, MYSSA can assist you in finding one. Maybe you are starting a sport shooting team, MYSSA has resources for you to do that as well. From events and information directly from MYSSA and to our connections with the MidwayUSA Foundation, Missouri youth shooters have resources to find or create what they need to support their sport shooting dreams.
As with other activities and sports high schoolers participate in, shooting sports also continue to the collegiate level. High school sport shooting athletes can even receive scholarships to help fund their further education. There are many opportunities available to youth through shooting sports. MYSSA is here to help them be realized.
Our Mission
The mission of the Missouri Youth Sport Shooting Alliance is to introduce, promote and facilitate safe shooting sports to Missouri youth, providing unique opportunities for student athletes across the state to improve their skills through participation in a variety of team-based programs.
We are able to bring this mission to life thanks to our relationship with the MidwayUSA Foundation, which provides our organization with an endowment. We use these funds to support events and training throughout the state of Missouri. MYSSA believes in providing all Missouri youth access to sport shooting in an academic setting.
