The MidwayUSA Foundation was established in 2007 to provide sustainable funding to youth shooting sports teams across the nation.  Founders, Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, had a vision to offer the same opportunities to youth interested in shooting sports that those interested in more traditional team sports received.  Shooting teams provide wonderful opportunities for students to make friends, to develop confidence, and learn discipline and leadership skills, just like other sports. However, many schools provide little or no funding for shooting teams.

With the generosity of the Potterfields, the MidwayUSA Foundation was created to help communities and organizations raise funds to support their youth shooting team.  Today, the Foundation funds over 3,000 youth shooting teams and the endowment is growing every day.  Donors can contribute to a specific shooting team and that donation is tax-deductible and 100% of their donation goes to that team’s endowment account.  Zero is taken out for operational expenses.  Their donation is also matched, dollar for dollar based on available funds.

The Missouri Youth Sport Shooting Alliance (MYSSA) works with almost 200 teams in Missouri and each year MYSSA works to provide even more matching funds to assist teams.  These funds are established by the percentage of teams that engage their account by making even a small donation.  Take a minute to lookup your team and see what funds you have available and consider a donation.

While on the website look at the all the ways you can grow your account through fundraising items the foundation offers.  There are also opportunities for team uniforms.  I encourage you to explore the many things the Midway USA Foundation is doing in concert with MYSSA to improve, grow and develop youth shooting opportunities.
