December 2019 Coaches Newsletter
Coaches the winter months are a great time to address gun fit with your young shooters. This is the time to look into having work done before the start of the season.
Start by setting up an event where you can evaluate each shooter individually.
First check the length of pull. Young shooters are still growing and require us to keep a close eye on this.
Now move to the pad position. Ensure that the shooter is comfortable with the position and it allows for positive repeatability during mounting.
The comb position is the next and most important feature. The comb (if adjustable) is how we make the gun shoot where we look. Start by centering the bead and leveling the eyes. Keep in mind that sometimes this will also require the pad position to move as well.
Then spend some time at the patterning board and make adjustments to achieve the desired pattern location.
