Supporting competitive youth shooting programs in the state of Missouri.

Despite the continued growth in popularity of target shooting sports, most schools and clubs remain unable to provide adequate funding for youth sport shooting teams. MYSSA seeks to enable stable, long-term funding for Missouri youth shooters so that all of our student athletes are able to enjoy shooting sports with their peers — in a scholastic and safe environment — without the associated costs inherent to sport shooting.

What is the matching grant program?

MYSSA teams with the fellow nonprofit MidwayUSA Foundation to help guarantee the long-term financial support of shooting teams at the high school and college level. MYSSA offers associated teams $1-to-$1 donation matching, up to $1,000.00 ($500minimum) for contributions to team endowment funds.

Over 215 Missouri high school and college teams are participating.

How does the program work?

MYSSA helps Missouri shooting teams, coaches and parents by offering matching grants for team endowment funds — effectively doubling your teams’ fundraising efforts with one-to-one fund matching from $500 to $1,000.

  • Missouri shooting teams open a team endowment through the MidwayUSA Foundation.
  • Teams grow their endowment through fundraising and donations.
  • Teams apply for a matching grant through the Missouri Youth Sport Shooting Alliance.
  • MYSSA matches endowment deposits, with $1-to-$1 fund matching up to $1,000 ($500 minimum).
  • Teams apply for a cash grant each year to assist with team expenses.

How can matching grants help my team?

These endowment funds ensure sport shooting opportunities, training and events continue long into the future. Once teams have established their endowment, they are eligible to apply for a grant each year for team expenses, such as ammunition, uniforms, equipment, travel, and more.

The team can request a grant of approximately 5% of their endowment balance once each year, in either June or December, to cover these costs. MYSSA matching grants can allow clubs to greatly increase the size of their endowment, therefore increasing the grant amount they can receive each year.

In combination, matching grants the team endowment fund will greatly lessen the fundraising burden for your team, allowing for the sustained growth of your sport shooting program.

How to Apply

While MYSSA endeavors to help as many youth shooting teams as possible, granting funds are limited every year and distributed on a first come, first serve basis. To apply for a matching grant in support of your MidwayUSA Foundation endowment fund, simply fill out and submit a MYSSA endowment support form to the address provided by December 15, 2021.
